The Curtain tours, which last 90 minutes, are available Saturday mornings at 10 AM. The tours include a 20-minute film that features interviews with the creators of the hit show as well as footage from the New York and touring productions of the Stephen Schwartz musical. Participants will also be invited to visit the "Behind the Emerald Curtain" Museum, which includes Eugene Lee's set model and several of Susan Hilferty's Tony-winning Wicked costumes. Some of the current cast members of Wicked will also be on hand for a question-and-answer session.

Tickets for Behind the Emerald Curtain are priced $25 (adults) and $15 (children under 12) and are available at the merchandise booth in the Gershwin Theatre lobby for that week’s tour during regular box-office hours. For groups of 20 or more, call (646) 797-6762.

Based on Gregory Maguire's novel, which turned every Oz myth inside out, Wicked explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba. The two main characters meet at Shiz, a school where both hope to take up sorcery. Glinda is madly popular and Elphaba is, well, green. By a misunderstanding, they wind up roommates and, after an initial period of mutual loathing, begin to learn something about each other. Their life paths continue to intersect through a shared love, entry into the Emerald City and interaction with the Wizard himself. Eventually, their choices and convictions take them on widely different paths. Wicked, with a book by Winnie Holzman, began previews on Broadway Oct. 8, 2003, with an official opening Oct. 30, 2003.
