Off-Broadway News Brooklyn Laundry Completes Extended World Premiere Off-Broadway April 14

Manhattan Theatre Club's Off-Broadway world premiere of John Patrick Shanley's new play Brooklyn Laundry completes its extended run at New York City Center's Stage I April 14 after beginning previews February 6 and officially opening February 28. SNL and Schmigadoon! alum Cecily Strong stars as Fran, opposite David Zayas (Cost of Living) as Owen, Florencia Lozano (One Life to Live) as Trish, and Andrea Syglowski (Pass Over) as Susie. Understudies Janie Brookshire, Adriana DeMeo, and Alfredo Diaz round out the company. Casting is by Kelly Gillespie of Caparelliotis Casting.

The work centers on three sisters and a guy who run a Brooklyn laundry and the "savage tricks life plays on them," according to press notes. The world premiere features scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Suzy Benzinger, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, and original music and sound design by John Gromada.

Manhattan Theatre Club is currently hosting Amy Herzog's Mary Jane at its Broadway venue, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with screen star Rachel McAdams leading the company. The non-profit recently announced its upcoming season, which includes Broadway bows for Jonathan Spector's Eureka Day and Stephen Sondheim's Old Friends, and more.
