Several leading actors recently received their awards from the Queen at Buckingham Palace: Sir Ben Kingsley was touched, in the traditional way, with a sword on his shoulders as he became a Knight.
Googie Withers, currently appearing in Lady Windermere's Fan at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, received a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) for services to theatre and television, Lynn Redgrave an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for services to acting and the community, and singer and actress Barbara Dickson an OBE for services to music and drama.
