News Buffalo Production of Twain's Is He Dead? Begins Performances Jan. 9 David Ives' adaptation of Mark Twain's Is He Dead? — seen on Broadway in 2007 starring Norbert Leo Butz — makes its Buffalo, NY, premiere at The Kavinoky Theatre, a professional theatre on the campus of D'Youville College, Jan. 9.

Directed by Paul Todaro, the comedy will play through Feb. 8.

The cast features Beth Donohue, Ellen Horst, Barbara Link Larou, Kate LoConti, David Lundy, Jim Maloy, Tim Newell, Norm Sham, Joseph Wiens, Tom Zindle and John Warren as Jean-Francois Millet.

Is He Dead?, according to press notes, "recounts a fictional story of the brilliantly non-fictional painter, Jean-Francois Millet, who succumbs to the pressure from his friends and stages his own death in hopes of increasing the value of his paintings. The devious plot is fully realized with the aid of mistaken identities, cross-dressing, a funeral and German food."

The production features sets by David King, costumes by Dixon Reynolds, wigs by David Bova, lighting by Brian Cavanagh, sound by Tom Makar and set properties by Jonathan Zencheck.

Show times are Thursdays and Fridays at 8 PM, Saturdays at 4 and 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets, priced $32, are available by calling (716) 829-7668.
