Schulman racked up his 1,700 performances over the past decade in four companies and three countries, including six stints with the Broadway troupe. Schulman has also played the title role in The Phantom of the Opera. He assumed the role of Valjean March 3.

Since April 15, Schulman has been joined on stage by Lisa Capps, who has succeeded Juliet Lambert in the role of Fantine. Capps performed the role on tour for two years, including the four weeks in early 1997 when the touring company played at Broadway's Imperial Theatre. Lambert will return to the part in June after a leave of absence.
