Let sports fans have their Indie 500; come March 25, theatre fans can celebrate the Fosse 500.

The Saturday evening performance of the Broadway revue will be its 500th at the Broadhurst Theatre. As such, a post-show private party will follow at Marlowe’s Restaurant nearby. Expected at the festivities are choreographer Ann Reinking, star Julio Bocca and other cast members.

Bocca, a principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, joined Fosse Feb. 15. The Argentine native makes his Broadway debut in the role originated by Desmond Richardson. He dances "Percussion 4," "Cool Hand Luke" and ensemble pieces for six weeks at the Broadhurst Theatre. The revue of dances and numbers staged by Bob Fosse won the 1999 Best Musical Tony Award.

Bocca danced in Venezuela and Brazil prior to Mikhail Baryshnikov's invitation to join ABT in 1986. He has performed classic dance roles throughout the world, and is an arts legend in his country.

Richardson left the Fosse company in September 1999. Keith Roberts, who danced the lead swan in Broadway's Swan Lake last season, began in the Fosse Richardson role Jan. 18 (to Feb. 13) and returns after Bocca's tenure.
