Cable Street, the new musical about the 1936 Battle of Cable Street in London’s East End, will play the Southwark Playhouse Elephant in the fall.

Following a sold-out February-March engagement at Southwark Playhouse Borough, performances will begin September 6 for a limited engagement through October 10.

Adam Lenson will direct with choreography by Jevan Howard-Jones. Casting will be announced at a later date.

Penned by composer-lyricist Tim Gilvin and playwright Alex Kanefsky, Cable Street follows Sammy, Mairead, and Ron, who live in the multi-cultural melting pot that is Cable Street. They are desperately trying to carve out their own futures, when Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists start to march on the East End. A diverse mix of residents unite to blockade Cable Street, taking a united stand against hatred.

The production also has musical supervision by Tamara Saringer, orchestrations and arrangements by Gilvin, vocal arrangements by Gilvin and Saringer, set design by Yoav Segal, lighting design by Sam Waddington, sound design by Charlie Smith, and costume design by Lu Herbert. Olivia Mace is the dramaturg with production management by The Production Office and casting by Sarah Leung.

Dylan Schlosberg, who produces with Neil Marcus, said in a statement, "We had such a fantastic audience reception at our initial Southwark Borough run and now look forward to further develop and refine the show over the next few months, ready to go again at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in September."
