News Cafe Society Starts Serving in Chicago, April 3 Jason Borkowski will direct Robert Simonson’s comedy, Cafe Society, which begins its Chicago premiere on April 3 at The Conservatory.

The staging is by the young A Reasonable Facsimile Theatre Company. The cast includes Robyn Accetta, Joseph Alaimo, Michael Buino, Danny Dolan, Tina Haglund, Lauren Grove, William Mayer, Matt Stevens and Amanda White. Set in a New York City cafe, the dark comedy concerns a group of upwardly mobile Manhattanites caught in the thrall of a pastry shop's teen-age coffee server, who leads them to espresso-stained social peril when she asks them to be her friends.

Playwright Simonson's other plays include Kicker, a recipient of a 2002 Pilgrim Project grant and seen this past fall in the Ensemble Studio Theatre’s “Octoberfest”; and Which One’s Yours, which was produced by Soho Rep and Adobe Theatre Company in 1999.

The run is through May 11. The Conservatory is located at 4210 N. Lincoln Ave. To order tickets, call (773) 282-9728.
