Maher will also discuss her book, which includes interviews with Kevin Kline, Kenneth Branagh, Derek Jacobi, Stacy Keach and other actors who frequently perform the Bard's work. Caldwell received her four Tony Awards for Slapstick Tragedy, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Medea and Master Class. She played Bianca in Othello, Cordelia in King Lear and Helena in All's Well That Ends Well with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as Lady Macbeth in a 1961 television production of "Macbeth" opposite Sean Connery. She has directed Othello and Macbeth on Broadway, Richard II at the Stratford Festival in Canada, and The Taming of the Shrew in Stratford, CT.
Maher, a professor emerita at the University of Arizona, has written "Modern Hamlets and Their Soliloquies," "Nicholas Pennell: Risking Enchantment" and many articles on performing Shakespeare on stage, film and television.
