LOS ANGELES -- Zoe Caldwell, who triumphed at the Mark Taper Forum three years ago in Master Class, will return to that theatre for one performance only of her new solo work, Come a-Waltzing With Me, on May 18.
The event will benefit the Taper's P.L.A.Y. programing (Performing for Los Angeles Youth) and the Young Audiences Program, and is presented by the Center Theatre Group Affiliates, a volunteer support group for the Center Theatre Group.
In Come a-Waltzing With Me, directed by noted producer Robert Whitehead (Caldwell's husband), Caldwell introduces the audience to some of the remarkable women she has played during her career, including Jean Brodie, Sarah Bernhardt, Medea, Cleopatra, Colette and Maria Callas. She also shares intimate reminiscences of her career as suburban wife, mother and friend to such women as Katharine Hepburn and Dory Previn.
The performance begins at 8 PM, followed by a champagne toast with Caldwell. For tickets, $150, call (213) 972-7660.
