News Cale and Orlandersmith Musical The Blue Album Ready to Spin at Long Wharf Long Wharf Theatre has announced the title (and details) for the new musical written and performed by David Cale and Dael Orlandersmith: The Blue Album.

Artistic director Gordon Edelstein will stage the newly named world premiere, which will begin previews at the New Haven, CT, company's Stage II March 28 and open April 4 for a run through April 29. Cale (Floyd and Clea Under a Western Sky) and Orlandersmith (Yellowman) team up for the first time on the new work, which is billed as "a theatrical 'concept album' with individual vignettes journeying through love, joy, sexuality, heartbreak, race and music." Show materials pose the question: "When the days of your life are called into account, will your life be one lived in the joy of each and every moment? Or will you look back and always wonder 'what if?'"

The Long Wharf currently presents Charles Newell's Joseph Jefferson Award-winning production of Man of La Mancha (through March 18). Closing the season will be Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya (May 9-June 3).

Tickets to The Blue Album at Long Wharf Theatre, 222 Sargent Drive in New Haven, CT, are available by calling (203) 787-4282 or by visiting the theatre's website at www.longwharf.org.
