Education News Camp Broadway is New York City–Bound Once Again

Professional theatre artists will lead children and teens in learning skills for on and off the stage.

Camp Broadway will return to New York City July 10-14. The Broadway Education Alliance, Inc. camp features two programs: Mainstage for ages 10-17 and Shining Stars for ages 7-9.

The camp's team of teaching artists will include professional director/choreographers and music directors. The Mainstage program, which will be held at Pearl Studios, will feature 40-hours of vocal performance, dancing, acting, stagecraft, and masterclasses with special guests. Students will also visit the Gershwin Theatre to learn about the production crafts at “Behind the Emerald Curtain” and attend a matinee performance of Wicked. The Mainstage program will finish with a Family Finale Showcase at Symphony Space.

The Shining Stars program is a 32-hour camp which focuses on creativity, collaboration, and crafts. Children will be taught by professional theatre artists classes in singing, dancing, storytelling, and visual arts. Shining Stars will also end in a Family Finale Showcase.

“Exposure to theatre and the arts teaches critical thinking skills like confidence, collaboration, and risk-taking,” says BEA founder Susan Lee in a statement.
