Gulfshore Playhouse artistic director Kristen Coury will direct Shanley's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning 90-minute work that runs through March 1 at the Norris Center in Naples, FL. Opening night is Feb. 20. Campbell, a Tony nominee for Sunset Boulevard, will portray Father Flynn in the Florida production with Dale Soules as Sister Aloysius. Soules was most recently seen on Broadway covering for Mary Louise Wilson as Edith Bouvier Beale in Grey Gardens.
Completing the cast of Doubt are Elizabeth A. Davis (The Coffee Trees) as Sister James and Patricia Idlette (Doubt at Florida Rep) as Mrs. Mueller.
Doubt is set in a Bronx, NY, Catholic parish where Father Flynn is suspected by Sister Aloysius, the school's principal, of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his male students. The young boy's mother only complicates matters in her response to the allegations, thrusting Sister Aloysius into a conflicted dialogue about her own faith and the cost of the pursuit of truth.
The design team comprises Matt Flynn (set design), Curtis Lee Jones (lighting design) and Jackie Morelisse (costume design).
Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman co-star in the current "Doubt" film.
Tickets for Doubt are available by phoning (866) 811-4111, or by visiting GulfShorePlayhouse. The Norris Center is located at 755 8th Avenue in Naples, FL.
