Native Earth Peforming Arts, responsible for putting Native culture on the Canadian theatre map with its many award-winning shows by such writers as founder Thomson Highway, has temporarily suspended operations due to a cash crisis. Current artistic director Pamela Matthews told The Toronto Star that: "Things are going to start rolling again in September. We have next season planned."
In the meantime, the company has also had to lay off staff.
