Classic Arts News Canadian Opera Company Announces Casting of Wotan for Its Final Ring Cycle Tonight at the Four Seasons Centre in Toronto, Canadian Opera Company begins the third and final cycle of its production of Wagner's complete Ring des Nibelungen, Canada's first.
As previously reported, Pavlo Hunka, the baritone who had been scheduled to sing the role of Wotan for all three Toronto Ring cycles, withdrew from the entire run of performances for health reasons shortly before the first cycle began.

As with the first two cycles, John Fanning will sing Wotan in tonight's performance of Das Rheingold, while Peteris Eglitis will take the role in Die Walk‹re tomorrow night and Siegfried on Friday, September 29.

Adrianne Pieczonka, who broke her ankle the weekend before last, will be able to act as well as sing Sieglinde — a role in which she has received an avalanche of critical praise — in tomorrow's Walk‹re.
