The cast for the one-night-only reading of George Bernard Shaw's light comedy will include Tony Award winner Blair Brown in the title role with Grey Gardens' Matt Cavenaugh, Mary Poppins' Daniel Jenkins, Annie Golden, Ed Dixon, Charlotte Moore and Mark Saturno. The New York Times' Charles Isherwood will host the 7 PM event. Candida, according to press notes, "questions Victorian notions of women's rights, sexuality, societal expectations for formalized relationships (including marriage), capitalism and religion. All with a satirical wink, Shaw covers just about all controversial topics allowing for some surprisingly heated dialogue. At the heart of the story is a happily married couple, challenged by the passions of a young poet."

The Project Shaw series is produced and directed by David Staller, who last year acted with Dana Ivey in Shaw's Mrs. Warren's Profession at the Irish Repertory Theatre. Dates stretching throughout 2007 and beyond will provide an airing of every sketch, full-length and one-act play by the playwright.

Past participants include Rebecca Luker, Michael Cerveris, Karen Ziemba, Michele Pawk, Jack Gilpin and George S. Irving.

The Players is located at 16 Gramercy Park South. For reservations call (212) 352-3101. Visit www.projectshaw.com for more information.
