Three people, phenomenal actors, I came to know personally. When I was very young, I studied acting at Circle In The Square Theater School with Michael Kahn. I remember sneaking and hiding behind the seats to watch Colleen and George C. Scott, directed by José Quintero, in Desire Under the Elms!

I saved the juiciest experience for last. Larry David in Fish in the Dark. When the show started, in my snooty way of passing judgment, I asked, “Is this guy a trained stage actor?” Midway through, I was laughing so hard that all my makeup ran off. I looked around and everyone else in the theatre was in the same laughing coma. What a guy. I fell in love.
