The half-hour, candid sex comedy series — which airs Sunday nights — stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Wonder of the World, Annie), Cynthia Nixon (The Women, Hurlyburly), Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis (The Exonerated) as four sociable (not to mention fashionable) New Yorkers. Among the recurring characters who will see a return include David Eigenberg (Take Me Out), Mario Cantone (The Violet Hour) and Evan Handler (I Hate Hamlet, Six Degrees of Separation). Mikhail Baryshnikov, Blair Underwood and Jason Lewis will also be among the many returning love interests who appear.

Anne Meara (Anna Christie, Eastern Standard and playwright of Down the Garden Paths, After-Play) also makes a appearance, as will Lynn Cohen (Ivanov, Orpheus Descending).

"Sex and the City" was created by Darren Star and is executive produced by Michael Patrick King, John Melfi, Cindy Chupack and Parker with co-executive producer Jenny Bicks. The series is based on the book by Candace Bushnell.

The final season of HBO's "Sex and the City" resumes Jan. 4, 2004. HBO will also rerun the preceding first 12 episodes of the sixth and final season consecutively, Dec. 31 starting at 11 PM (ET). Check local listings.
