News Carol Channing Guests at Hollywood Bowl Concert in Aug. 2003 Broadway legend Carol Channing will be the special guest at the Hollywood Bowl’s “Great American Concert” Aug. 8 and 9.

Channing, best known for her Tony-winning work in Jerry Herman’s Hello, Dolly!, will be part of the annual concert featuring the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra under the direction of John Mauceri. This season’s American tribute will focus on American legends, including theatre veteran Channing. In addition to her many triumphs — including her Tony for Hello, Dolly! and her Academy Award nomination for "Thoroughly Modern Millie" — Channing's tome also details some of the obstacles she endured, including her long term food addictions, her battle with cancer and her first marriage to a struggling novelist, Ted Naidish.

The Hollywood Bowl is located at 2301 Highland Avenue in Hollywood, CA. Tickets for the “Great American Concert” are available by calling (323) 850-2000. Go to www.hollywoodbowl.org for more information.
