Classic Arts News Carolina Ballet Announces 2006-07 Season Carolina Ballet's 2006-07 season will include two new ballets inspired by the paintings of Claude Monet, the Raleigh-based company announced.
The two dances, by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and artistic director Robert Weiss, will debut in January 2007, coinciding with a Monet exhibition at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Broadway veteran William Ivey Long will create costumes for Taylor-Corbett's new work, which is based on several Monet paintings depicting French life. Weiss's new work is inspired by Monet's Water Lilies.

The season will also include Weiss's full-length versions of Carmen, Firebird, and Swan Lake; a production of The Nutcracker; and tours to Winston-Salem, Chapel Hill, and China.
