Caroline O'Connor, the Australian performer who has appeared on the big screen in Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge" and on the West End and Broadway stage as Velma Kelly in Chicago, will return to the West End.

She will bring her one-woman show, Caroline O'Connor: The Showgirl Within, to the Garrick Theatre, beginning performances Sept. 27, prior to an official opening Sept. 29, for a run through Oct. 3 only.

According to press materials, the show celebrates the culmination of O'Connor's years of stage and screen experience. Joined by an ensemble of dancers and her own onstage band, the show is directed by Michael Gracey, with musical direction by Daniel Edmonds, choreography by Ashley Wallen, lighting design by Mike Robertson and sound design by James Tebb. Gracey and Wallen have been responsible for the creative direction and choreography of such artists as Will Young, Alesha Dixon, Kylie Minogue and the Sugababes.

O'Connor has been nominated for Olivier Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (for Mack and Mabel) and for Best Actress in a Play (for Bombshells). She was most recently seen on the London stage playing Hildy in English National Opera's production of Bernstein, Comden and Green's On the Town. Other leading stage roles include playing Piaf; Judy Garland; and Anita in West Side Story. Her film credits include playing Ethel Merman in "De-Lovely."
