According to O'Connor's official website, she will be part of the four-week production of the Stephen Sondheim-Hugh Wheeler musical, which is scheduled to run April 22-May 21. Lee Blakeley, who staged A Little Night Music at Théâtre du Châtelet last season, will direct the English-language production.
O'Connor replaces the previously announced Deanne Meek as Mrs. Lovett. The cast will also feature the previously reported Rod Gilfry, of Broadway's South Pacific and the Châtelet production of The Sound of Music, alternating with Franco Pomponi as the villainous barber.
Also cast are Jonathan Best as Judge Turpin, John Graham-Hall as Beatle Bamford, David Curry as Pirelli, Nicholas Garrett as Anthony, Rebecca Bottone as Joanna, Pascal Chardonneau as Tobias and Rebecca de Pont Davis as the Beggarwoman.
Caroline O'Connor made her Broadway debut as Velma Kelly in the revival of Chicago, reprising her award-winning performance from the Australian production. An Olivier nominee for the London revival of Mack and Mabel, O'Connor has appeared in End of the Rainbow, The Rink, West Side Story, Piaf, Bombshells and Into the Woods. She is known for her on-screen tango as Nini Legs in Baz Luhrmann's "Moulin Rouge."
