La Ronde de Lunch 2000, a Hollywood comedy by Peter Lefcourt, will be revived on Aug. 12 by El Portal Center for the Arts. Jeremiah Morris directs the play, which has been rewritten by Lefcourt expressly for El Portal.
Lefcourt is the Emmy-winning creator of Showtime's new hit series "Beggars and Choosers." La Ronde satirizes industry types who converge on a trendy bistro where gossip is traded, cappuccinos are sipped, deals are made and careers are destroyed. The bistro also employs a Greek chorus of waiters all named "Bruce."
The Daily News called La Ronde "a scathing, acerbic waltz on Hollywood's collective head." The Hollywood Reporter added that "it's clever, commercial and just bitchy enough."
