The Interact Theatre Company of North Hollywood has extended their production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapines' Tony Award-winning Into the Woods. The production, originally scheduled to close Jan. 16, will now run through Mar. 2, and is being directed by Jon Rubinstein , who will also star as the Baker. Five fairy tales converge in this musical which explores what happens after the fabled characters live "happy ever after," offering a more realistic portrayal of the human drama. This production restores "Our Little World, " a duet between Rapunzel and her mother the Witch, which was cut from the Broadway production but restored in the London version. Amanda Carlin, recently seen at South Coast Rep in the premiere of A Whole Mess of Plays by Chris Durang stars as the witch, a part originated on Broadway by Bernadette Peters. Leslie Hicks, who won a Drama-Logue Award for playing Rubinstein's wife in Interact's Counsellor at Law, will play his wife again in the role of the Baker's wife.
The show is closed Christmas week, and re-opens Jan. 3. It is requested to bring children only over the age of 8. For more information or tickets, please refer to the Interact Theatre Company regional listing on Playbill On-Line.
