Brian Friel's drama, Dancing At Lughnasa, comes to CA's La Mirada Theatre, Apr. 24-May 10.

Lughnasa tells of five impoverished, unmarried sisters living in 1930's Ballybeg, Ireland. Their one ray of hope shines through a radio which awakens a deep yearning for the pleasures in life they may never know. Michael, the illegitimate son of one sister, tells their story in flashback.

Starring at La Mirada are Michelle Duffy, Maura Vincent, Cynthia Mace, Melina Bielefelt and Robin Pearson Rose as the sisters, alongside Jefrey Alan Chandler, Jonathan Brent and Jamison Jones. Jessica Kubzansky directs Dancing, which features sets by John Iacovelli, lighting by Pauli Jenkins and costumes by Zoe Dufour. Michael Roth composed the underscoring; Kay Cole choreographs the famous dance in act one.

Other plays by Friel include Philadelphia, Here I Come!, Translations, Wonderful Tennessee and Molly Sweeney.
