The "semi-staged production" has musical direction by Miguel Harth-Bedoya, who has been the music director of the Fort Worth Symphony since 2000. Kim Huber (Broadway's Beauty and the Beast, Sunset Boulevard, Marie Christine) will star as Magnolia, Terry Burrell (Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Threepenny Opera and Dreamgirls) plays Julie, Damon Kirsche plays Gaylord Ravenal, David Coffee plays Cap’n Andy, Jen Cody (Broadway's Urinetown) plays Ellie, James Monroe Iglehart ( Show Boat national tour) plays Joe, John MacInnis (Broadway's Kiss Me, Kate, Steel Pier, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Guys and Dolls) is Frank, JoAnn Hawkins White (national tour of Show Boat) is Queenie and Chesley Ann Santoro is Parthy Ann Hawkes.

Show Boat has music by Jerome Kern and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein and is based on the novel by Edna Ferber. The original Broadway production opened at the Ziegfeld Theatre on Dec. 27, 1927. Harold Prince directed the most recent Broadway production of the musical, which opened in 1994. The show's songs include "Make Believe," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," "Bill" and "Ol' Man River."
