News Cast Announced for 30th Anniversary Production of As Is The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center will present a 30th anniversary production of William M. Hoffman's 1985 play As Is 7 PM May 22-23 at The Broward County Main Library Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale.

Directed by Leroi Freeman, the cast will feature Darren Blaney, Larry Chidsey, Lory Reyes, Vicki Klein, Justin Bullard and Dylan Denmark.

As Is, the first Broadway show to deal with AIDS as it was happening in New York, "is the story of Rich and Saul, a gay couple going through a divorce," according to press notes. "As they discuss this difficult situation Rich has one more difficult announcement that he has AIDS. They need each other and talk about the old days, how did this happen and what does the future hold with this devastating disease that has come upon everyone. This play is a heartwarming story of love and compassion and what is was like to deal with the AIDS epidemic in 1985 in New York."

As Is received Tony nominations in 1985 for Best Play, Best Actor in Play (Jonathan Hogan) and Best Direction of a Play (Marshall W. Mason).

The two benefit performances are a part of the educational cultural series of The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center.
