The cast for the TheaterWorks Hartford production of Lizzie, the Lizzie Borden musical, has been announced. The musical will run at the Connecticut venue September 29—October 22 with Lainie Sakakura at the helm.
The cast will include Kim Onah (& Juliet) as Alice Russell, Nora Schell (Jagged Little Pill) as Bridget Sullivan, Sydney Shepherd (First Date) as Lizzie Borden, and Lili Thomas (Dear Evan Hansen) as Emma Borden.
Telling the story of 19th century axe murderer Lizzie Borden, Lizzie has a book and score by Steven Cheslik-deMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt.
The production will also feature set design by Brian Prather, costume design by Saawan Tiwari, lighting design by Rob Denton, sound design by Megan “Deets” Culley, projection design by Camilla Tassi, casting direction by Paul Hardt, and wig, hair, and makeup design by Ashley Rae Callahan.
Rob Ruggiero serves as producing artistic director, Mike Lenaghan serves as director of production, and Tom Kosis serves as production stage manager.
Lizzie kicks off TheaterWorks Hartford's 2023—2024 season, which will also include Lindsay Joelle's The Garbologists, Martyna Majok's Sanctuary City, and David Cale's Sandra. Additionally, Christmas on the Rocks, TheaterWorks Hartford's holiday tradition, will return in November for its 11th annual engagemment.
