News Cast Announced for Philly Spelling Bee, a Co-Production With Paper Mill Playhouse Philadelphia Theatre Company's 35th season begins Nov. 12 with the first preview of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, directed by Marc Bruni.

The cast will include Ephie Aardema as Logainne, Will Blum as Barfee, Lyle Mackston as Leaf, Marla Mindelle as Rona, Olivia Oguma as Marcy, Jerold Solomon as Mitch, Ali Stroker as Olive, David Volin as Panch and Brandon Yanez as Chip.

Opening night is Nov. 17. Performances continue to Dec. 12 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre at Broad and Lombard Streets.

The show that has adult actors playing smart, misfit kids in a spelling bee is written by composer-lyricist William Finn and librettist Rachel Sheinkin (who won a Tony Award for the script). The conception is by Rebecca Feldman.

Director Bruni recently directed Fanny for City Center's Encores! series; he was associate director of Walter Bobbie's White Christmas.

The PTC Spelling Bee creative team includes costume designer Alejo Vietti, lighting designer David Lander, set designer Anna Louizos and sound designer Nick Kourtides. Andy Einhorn is the music director and Wendy Seyb is the choreographer.

Spelling Bee is a co-production with New Jersey’s Paper Mill Playhouse, which will present the show in January 2011.
