News Cast Complete for Motherhood Out Loud at Hartford Stage Actress April Yvette Thompson will join Tony Award winner Randy Graff, Academy Award nominee Amy Irving and James Lecesne in the Hartford Stage production of Motherhood Out Loud.

Thompson (A Raisin in the Sun) completes the four-person cast that includes the previously announced Graff (City of Angels, Les Miserables, A Class Act), Irving ("Yentl," Coast of Utopia, Three Sisters) and Lecesne (The Boys in the Band, I Am My Own Wife). Lisa Peterson (The Poor Itch), who staged the production in a developmental run at the Bay Street Theatre, will repeat her duties for Hartford Stage. Opening is March 3 and performances will run through March 21.

Co-conceived by Susan Rose and Joan Stein, the work includes contributions from Leslie Ayvazian, David Cale, Pat Candaras, Jessica Goldberg, Rinne Groff, Beth Henley, Lameece Issaq, Deborah Zoe Laufer, Lisa Loomer, Michele Lowe, Brett Paesel, Marco Pennette, Theresa Rebeck, Luanne Rice, Adriana Trigiani, Annie Weisman, Cheryl West, Christine Zander and Mark Nutter.

Motherhood Out Loud, according to Hartford, "celebrates the very personal, diverse, funny, exciting, touching and altogether extraordinary experiences that boldly expose the unabashed truths that unite us all. From stepmoms to single moms, immigrant moms to grandmothers, and new moms to empty nesters, Motherhood Out Loud reveals with illuminating insight (and humor), the raw emotions and rocky roads we travel in life."

The design team includes Rachel Hauck (scenic design), David Woolard (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Jill DuBoff (sound design) and Emily Hubley (animation design).
