Casting is now complete for the Young Vic's world premiere of Anthony McCarten's The Collaboration, which will play the London venue February 16-April 2.
Directed by Young Vic Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah, the cast will be led by the previously announced Paul Bettany (The Avengers, WandaVision) as Andy Warhol alongside two-time Tony nominee Jeremy Pope (Hollywood, Choir Boy, Ain’t Too Proud) as Jean-Michel Basquiat. The two will be joined by Sofia Barclay and Alec Newman.
The Collaboration is set in 1984 New York, where 56-year-old Andy Warhol’s star is falling and Jean-Michel Basquiat is taking the art world by storm. When Basquiat agrees to collaborate with Warhol on a new exhibition, the two artists embark on a shared journey that re-draws both their worlds.
The production will also have set and costume design by Anna Fleischle, lighting design by Mark Henderson, sound design by Emma Laxton, casting by Isabella Odoffin, projection design by Duncan McLean, composition by Ayanna Witter-Johnson, DJ/VJ by Xana, and assistant direction and production dramaturgy by Olivia Nwabali.
