Composer and lyricist team Leo Hurley and Charles Osborne will present songs from five of their original musicals: The Body Politic, Paris Through the Window, Taking Wing, We Are Myth, and Brooklyn Bridge, in their Feinstein's/54 Below concert, set for February 8 at 9:30 PM.
Directed and produced by Julie Saltman, the evening will feature performances from Broadway performers Isaac Powell (Once On This Island), Natalie Charlé Ellis (School of Rock, Les Misérables), Sydney Shepherd (First Date), Chris Newcomer (Chicago, The Visit), Tori Feinstein (Matilda), Nick Laughlin (The Book of Mormon), and more.
The Body Politic, about trans and Muslim discrimination in North Carolina, has been performed at Boston Center for the Arts and as part of NYMF 2017. Paris Through the Window, a fable about World War I-era artists living in France, has been performed at Abingdon Theatre and York Theatre in New York. Taking Wing, a fantasy musical about bullying and the importance of true friendship, was part of the NYNW Theatre Festival in 2017. We Are Myth, which explores modern teen issues through Greek myths, and Brooklyn Bridge, which tells the true story of the woman who helped build the NYC landmark, are both previously unheard.
