Noble Fool artistic director John Gawlik stages the pop musical that officially opens May 2 and runs through July 12 at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage Theater in St. Charles, IL. Altar Boyz has choreography by Gil Mata and musical direction by Brett Rowe.
The cast of Altar Boyz will feature Michael Arthur, Courtney Crouse, Robert Deason, Edward Fraim and Frank Joseph Paul.
Altar Boyz has music and lyrics by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker with book by Kevin Del Aguila. The musical is based on a concept by Marc Kessler and Ken Davenport.
According to Noble Fool, "Altar Boyz is about a Christian boy band — Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham (he's Jewish) — who are singing their final performance of their 'Raise the Praise' tour across America with hopes of making it big in New York. They're determined to save souls and raise spirits while performing their hit songs like 'God Put the Rhythm In Me' and 'Girl, You Make Me Want to Wait.' The end result is a rockin', theatrical spoof on the boy band industry."
Altar Boyz has designs by Colleen Tovar (scenic design), John Horan (lighting design), Kathleen Cowell (costume design) and Joseph Fosco (sound design). For tickets, phone (630) 584-6342, or visit Ticketmaster. The Pheasant Run Resort is located at 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL.
