News Cast Set for NY Premiere of Curious Incident Playwright Simon Stephens' Punk Rock Douglas Smith, David Greenspan, Annie Funke and Noah Robbins will star in the New York premiere of Punk Rock, a new work by Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time playwright Simon Stephens, which will be produced by MCC Theater this fall.

Trip Cullman directs the run that will begin previews Oct. 29. An official opening has been set for Nov. 17 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The run is scheduled through Dec. 7.

Smith ("Big Love"), Greenspan (Coraline, The Royal Family), Funke (If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet) and Robbins (Brighton Beach Memoirs) will be joined by Pico Alexander ("Orange Is The New Black"), Lilly Englert (King Lear), Colby Minifie (The Pillowman) and Will Pullen (The Wayside Motor Inn).

The play is based on Stephens' own experiences as a teacher. The playwright is currently represented with the Broadway transfer of the Olivier Award-winning production of his play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which will officially open Oct. 5 at the Barrymore Theatre.

According to MCC Theater, "In a private school outside of Manchester, England a group of highly-articulate seventeen year-olds flirt and posture their way through the day while preparing for their A-Level mock exams. With hormones raging and minimal adult supervision, nothing can mask the underlying tension that becomes increasingly pronounced as the clock ticks towards the ultimate dismissal."
