The Classic Stage Company revival of Ben Jonson's classic comedy, The Alchemist, scheduled to begin previews Feb. 3 (opening Feb. 17 and running through March 12), will also serve as the New York stage debut of an actor whose voice is his most familiar feature -- Dan Castellaneta, the voice of Homer Simpson on Fox Television's animated hit, "The Simpsons." Castellaneta (Subtle) will star opposite Jeremy Shamos (Face). The other cast members include Buzz Bovshow, Johann Carlo, Umit Celebi, Reuben Jackson, Yaani King, Hillel Meltzer, Steve Rattazzi, Matthew Saldivar, Lee Sellars and Michael Showalter.

The comedy, written in 1610, is by Ben Jonson, a friend and contemporary of William Shakespeare's.

Barry Edelstein directs the production, which has been described as a masterpiece of English comedy and one of the funniest works ever written.

Edelstein's creative team includes set designer Adrianne Lobel, lighting designer Stephen Strawbridge, costume designer Michael Krass and sound designer Robert Kaplowitz.
