News   Casting Announced for Free Reading of Enchanted Cottage Musical
The York Theatre Company will present a free reading of the musical The Enchanted Cottage Feb. 28.

Part of the York's Developmental Reading Series, the performance will begin at 2 PM. Those scheduled to take part in the reading include Lewis Cleale, Barbara Marineau, Joe Kolinski and Rachel Ulanet. Peter Flynn directs. The Enchanted Cottage features a book by Thomas West, lyrics by Alison Hubbard and music by Kim Oler. The musical is based on Sir Arthur Wing Pinero's 1921 novel of the same name and "tells the story of a severely wounded upper-class Englishman and a homely young woman, who find themselves transformed by the power of their love for one another."

The Enchanted Cottage was previously presented in 2002 in the NAMT Festival in a production starring Emily Skinner and Michael Hayden. The musical is the recipient of the 2003 Jerry Bock Award, the 2002 BMI Foundation's Harrington Award, and was a Director's Choice Award winner in the National Music Theater Network's Fall Festival.
