News Casting Announced for George Street's Agnes of God Casting has been announced for the George Street Playhouse's production of the award-winning play Agnes of God.

Directed by Ted Sod, the New Jersey theatre's mounting of John Pielmeier's play will feature Suzzanne Douglas, Laurie Kennedy and Maria Dizzia. Performances begin January 6, 2004, and will run through Feb. 1. Agnes of God concerns the death of a newborn baby found in a convent wastebasket and the guilt or innocence of a 21-year-old nun. The drama opened at Broadway's Music Box Theatre in March 1982, where it played 599 performances before closing Sept. 4, 1983. The original cast featured Elizabeth Ashley, Geraldine Page and Amanda Plummer as Agnes. Plummer won a Best Featured Actress Tony for her performance.

Suzzanne Douglas starred as Billie Holiday in George Street's production of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill; her Broadway credits include The Threepenny Opera, Into the Woods, The Tap Dance Kid, Sophisticated Ladies and A Grand Night for Singing. Laurie Kennedy's Broadway credits include Man and Superman, Major Barbara, Spoils of War, Copenhagen and both parts of Angels in America. Maria Dizzia has performed in regional theatres throughout the country.
