News Casting Announced for Into the Woods at DC's Signature Casting has been announced for Signature Theatre's production of Into the Woods, to be the inaugural offering at the DC-area company's new home in early 2007.

Artistic director Eric Schaeffer will direct the Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical in The Max, one of two spaces at the Equity troupe's fresh complex in Shirlington Village, VA. The cast is a mix of resident and guest artists, which is the general practice at Signature.

"The well-known tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Little Red Ridinghood are combined with an original story of a Baker and his Wife who desperately want children, but must remove the curse standing in their way," according to Signature notes.

The production will play Jan. 12-Feb. 25, 2007.

The cast will include Florrie Bagel as Florinda, April Harr Blandin as the Baker's Wife, Matt Conner as Steward, Priscilla Cuellar as Lucinda, Steven Cupo as Cinderella's Father, Erin Driscoll as Rapunzel, Eleasha Gamble as the Witch, Dana Krueger as Cinderella's Mother/Grandmother, Sean MacLaughlin as Rapunzel's Prince, Channez McQuay as the Stepmother, Donna Migliaccio as Jack's Mom, James Moye as Cinderella's Prince/Wolf, Tally Sessions as the Baker, Stephen Gregory Smith as Jack, Stephanie Waters as Cinderella, Lauren Williams as Little Red Riding Hood and Harry A. Winter as Narrator/Mysterious Man.

Robert Perdziola is designing sets and costumes. Jon Kalbfleisch is music director, Karma Camp is choreographer, Tony Angellini is sound designer and Chris Lee is lighting designer. The company is now in the process of moving to its new digs. For more information, visit www.sig-online.org.
