Directed and choreographed by Kirsten Chandler, the cast will comprise Jill Marie Burke, Melissa Lyons Caldretti, Dan Callaway, Will Collyer, Joshua Finkel, Jason Graae, Louis Pardo, Jeffrey Polk, Alyssa M. Simmons, Shannon Warne, Tomasina Abate, Samantha Altounian, Reed Armstrong, Kathy Deitch, Trey Ellett, Loren Smith and Brad Standley.
The creative team also includes musical director David Lamoureux; costume designer A. Jeffrey Schoenberg, assisted by Jessica Olson; stage manager Art Brickman; assistant stage managers Christopher Rosko and Kirsten D'Agostaro Shook; and MTG production coordinator Jeffrey Christopher Todd.
Chess features music by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with lyrics by Tim Rice. The story, according to press notes, "revolves around the two top players, an American and a Russian, in a world chess tournament. They find themselves competing for both the championship and for the affections of the woman who manages one, yet yearns for the other." The pop score includes “One Night in Bangkok," “Anthem” and “I Know Him So Well.”
