Tom Ellis, Katy Secombe, Charlotte Randle and Ben Aldridge will play featured roles. However, casting for Rita and Ben Lyons, the parents of the family that the play revolves around, has not been announced yet. Those roles were originated on Broadway by respectively Linda Lavin (Tony nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a play) and Dick Latessa.

In the play, the Lyons family have gathered around the hospital bed of their dying father Ben. But surface compassion soon gives way to bickering, sniping and betraying each other's secrets.  Ellis, who plays Ben's son Curtis Lyons, is best known for his TV roles as Gary in "Miranda" and in "The Secret of Crickley Hall." Theatre credits include One Minute (Crucible Sheffield and Bush) and Shang-A-Lang (Chichester).

Randle, who plays Ben's daughter Lisa Lyons, has appeared in the West End in The King's Speech (at Wyndham's Theatre), All About My Mother (Old Vic), Don Carlos (Gielgud, after transferring from Sheffield's Crucible), Lobby Hero (Donmar Warehouse and transfer to the Ambassador's Theatre) and Rabbit (Trafalgar Studios 2 after transferring from the fringe Old Red Lion, and then at New York's 59E59 Theatre).

Secombe, who plays the Nurse, has been seen in the West End in Les Miserables and Mamma Mia!, and on the fringe in Darling of the Day (Union Theatre) and regionally in Hay Fever (at the Rose Theatre, Kingston).

Aldridge, who plays Brian, has been seen onstage in Romeo and Juliet (at the Globe), Shelf Life (at the Old Red Lion) and Fish and Company (at Soho Theatre). On TV, he played Daniel Paris in "Lark Rise to Candleford." Mark Brokaw, who directed the previous incarnations of The Lyons both off and on Broadway, will direct a new production, with designs by Jonathan Fensom, lighting by Jason Taylor and sound by Gregory Clarke. Brokow has previously directed Lobby Hero in both New York and London (at the Donmar Warehouse, subsequently transferring to the West End's Ambassadors Theatre). Other New York directing credits include Broadway's current Cinderella, This Is Our Youth, As Bees in Honey Drown and How I Learned to Drive.

Nicky Silver's other plays include Pterodactyls, The Eros Trilogy, The Food Chain, Fat Men in Skirts, Fit to Be Tied, The Maiden's Prayer, Free Will and Wanton Lust, My Marriage to Ernest Borgnine, The Altruists and Raised in Captivity.
