News   Casting Announced for Reading of New Musical Sense & Sensibility
The Berkshire Musical Theater Workshop will present two staged readings of the new musical Sense & Sensibility May 9 at Shakespeare & Company's Elayne P. Bernstein Theater in Lenox, MA.

Directed by Sam Scalamoni, the free readings, which are open to the public, are scheduled for 2 and 7:30 PM.

The cast will include Piper Goodeve as Elinor, Deborah Grausman as Marianne, Zachary Prince as Edward Ferrars, Josh Young as John Willoughby, Todd Alan Johnson as Col. Brandon, Russell Arden Koplin as Lucy Steele, Alison Cimmet as Fanny Dashwood, Jamison Stern as John Dashwood, Jan Neuberger as both Mrs. Dashwood and Mrs. Ferrers, J.B. Adams as Sir John and Peggy Pharr Wilson as Mrs. Jennings with Eleni Delopoulos and Michael Pizzi.

Based on the classic Jane Austen novel, Sense & Sensibility features music by Neal Hampton and book and lyrics by Jeffrey Haddow. The readings will feature musical direction by Amy Lieberman.

The musical, according to press notes, "tells the story of the Dashwood sisters, Elinor and Marianne, who are as different as can be. Elinor is reserved, self-possessed, and rational to a fault, and Marianne is wildly romantic, emotionally uninhibited, and disdainful of half-measures. They struggle to cope with reduced circumstances and the pressure to marry well. Ecstasy, deception, dashed hopes, and near-tragedy lead them to discover profound truths that bring them closer together and ultimately put them within reach of true and lasting happiness."

The Elayne P. Bernstein Theater is located at 70 Kemble Street, Lenox, MA. For reservations call (413) 637-3353 or e-mail For further information visit
