News Casting Announced for World Premiere of Travels of Angelica Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Joseph McDonough's Travels of Angelica, which will begin performances Jan. 20, 2009, at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Playhouse producing artistic director Edward Stern directs the new work that will continue through Feb. 15, 2009, in the Playhouse's Robert S. Marx Theatre.

Originally scheduled to conclude Feb. 21, 2009, the final week of the run was canceled by the Playhouse as "a measure to control the high cost of change-over between shows," representatives stated.

Travels of Angelica will feature Sarah Dandridge, Joneal Joplin, Erik Lochtefeld, Jason Schuchman, Greg Thornton, Jo Twiss and Heather Wood.

Press notes for the work read: "1657: A writer wanted for treason barely escapes from England with his daughter to start a new life with a new identity in Virginia. Can he outwit his blackmailing neighbor and escape capture before completing his most important work? 2008: Two graduate students come to Virginia in search of clues about this forgotten author, hoping to make an important literary discovery. As the play twists and turns between the past and present, this time-traveling tale explores history, hope, heart and the possibility of a remarkable future."

The production team comprises set designer Joseph P. Tilford, lighting designer Thomas C. Hase, costume designer Susan Tsu, sound designer Fitz Patton and projection designer John Boesche. Travels of Angelica is the 2008 winner of the Mickey Kaplan New American Play Prize. McDonough's Stone My Heart was also awarded the prize in 2006. Travels of Angelica marks the third of McDonough's plays to premiere at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.
