News Casting Complete for California Run of Cole Porter's Silk Stockings Silk Stockings, presented by the 42nd Street Moon, will begin performances at the Eureka Theatre May 4, with an official opening May 7.

Greg MacKellan, the company's artistic director, will direct the Cole Porter musical that is based on the classic film "Ninotchka."

Casting includes Lee Ann Payne in the leading role of Ninotchka plus Ian Simpson (Steve Canfield), Dyan McBride (Janice Dayton), Daniel Epstein (Peter Boroff), Ray Renati (Chief Commissar Markovtich) and Nancy Dobbs Owens (Vera) with Jeremy Vik, Michael Rhone and Jackson Davis as the three commissars. Bill Olson, Jonathan Shue, Annie Donahey, Corinne Proctor and Hannah Knapp round out the ensemble.

Silk Stockings, according to press notes, is the story of "Ninotchka, a stern Russian commissar (communist party official), [who] is seduced by the joys of Paris and the charms of an American film agent, Steve Canfield. Wacky Hollywood star Janice Dayton, a Russian composer and three errant commissars add to the merrymaking."

The production will be musically directed by Dave Dobrusky with choreography by Jayne Zaban.
