Mychael Rambo as Man, Jevetta Steele as Velma, Austene Van Williams-Clark as Jeanette and Regina Marie Williams as Wanda. Patdro Harris will choreograph the production, which runs Jan. 10-Feb. 8, 2004. Based on the best-selling book "Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats" by Michael Cunningham and Craig Marberry, Crowns is a celebration of faith and fashion in the African-American community. According to production notes, Crowns "gives voice to personal stories — all connected to hats — that run the gamut of subjects and emotions: family and flirtation, birth and death, religion and racism." Crowns played Off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre in Dec. 2022.
