The play will be helmed by Emily Jackson, with performances running Nov. 8-22 at Kitchen Theatre in Ithaca.
Anna Stefanic will play chronically ill Caroline, and Ian Duff will be Anthony, who shows up at her doorstep with waffle fries and a copy of Whitman's "Leaves of Grass." Through their class project, the two find themselves letting down their guard and sharing secrets, unlocking the "much deeper mystery that has brought them together."
"This is such a wonderfully complex piece," said Rachel Lampert, Kitchen Theatre Company artistic director. "I love the play's humor and energy as well as the deep underpinnings that are revealed as the play progresses. Both of these characters are 'old souls' with so much to share with audiences of all ages. I was delighted find this play and include it on our season."
Tyler M. Perry will be designing the set and lights, with Amanda Aiken designing costumes and Josh Samuels handling sound design. The production stage manager is Jen Schilansky.
