Chekhov Theatre Ensemble’s Floyd Rumohr and other guests will be featured on the CBS News Early Show (April 12) during a segment on Chekhov’s educational program, Stages of Learning.
The April 12 date replaces a previously-announced March 28 segment. Local listings should be consulted.
Focusing on Chekhov’s work at Brooklyn’s PS 94, the segment demonstrates the effectiveness of theatre training methods. Chekhov reports that a ten year old student is quoted during the special saying that, "Acting was like a tiny piece of the story living inside your soul." Asked what acting did for his soul, the child replies, "Acting soothes the anger in my soul."
Joining Rumohr in the report are teaching artists Jon Shaver, Georgia Southern and fifth grade teacher Deirdre Keyes with her students.
