Melissa Benoist, of "Glee" fame, heads the cast in the title role.
The Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV series, according to the industry paper, concerns "Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El (Benoist), Superman’s cousin, at age 24, when she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be, after leaving Krypton and hiding her powers."
Glen Winter directed the pilot based on a script by Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg.
The cast also features Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, Helen Slater, Dean Cain and David Harewood with Tony winner Laura Benanti in a recurring role as Kara's birth mother.
It was previously reported that Jeremy Jordan, a Tony nominee for his performance in the hit Disney musical Newsies, will have a guest-starring role.
