We are happy to welcome guest celebrity blogger Kevin Chamberlin, a two-time Tony nominee for his performances in Dirty Blonde and Seussical. Chamberlin, who is currently playing Uncle Fester in the new musical The Addams Family, will blog for Playbill.com all week; his latest entry follows:

Well, after a very long day in the recording studio, the Original Cast Recording of The Addams Family has been made. My voice held out, barely. Allergies are giving me a scratchy throat and swollen glands, so it was a difficult day for me trying to sing through it, over it, around and in between it. Apparently, the tree pollen count is through the roof this year.

Andrew Lippa seemed pleased with the third take, so that'll be the one preserved forever. "This recording is the historic record of the show"- constantly goes through your mind as you're singing your heart out into the mic. The pressure is intense to get it right - since we only have that one day to make the album. Or CD. Or iTunes download. Speaking of which, we did record one bonus track that will be available on iTunes - the opening number that was cut after our
Chicago tryout-"Clandango." It was quite a thrilling number with a deliciously Spanish orchestration by Larry Hochman. We all got nostalgic as we revisited the song and preserved it for posterity.

Here's hoping these antihistamines do the trick so I can get through the next week of performances!
