Several of our readers also shared their personal stories of the women who inspire them:
Beth Malone: She is so open and truthful as well as talented. She can bring humor, kindness, and honesty to anything.
Cynthia Erivo: Last year in August, I had a major surgery far from home and The Color Purple soundtrack is what kept me motivated to get better! That has been the soundtrack I have kept on repeat since it came out! Her voice is what keeps me calm before every procedure and doctors visit. She’s incredible.
Ana Villafañe: She is so humble. I aspire to be as talented and as kind as her someday.
Laura Osnes: I want to be like her when I grow up!
Laura Michelle Kelly: I was lost until I discovered her. She makes me happy in ways I could never explain.
Phillipa Soo: Not only is she talented and has a huge stage presence but she does lots of charity work.
Lesli Margherita: She makes sure to say that you can do whatever you can put your mind to. She makes me wanna be on Broadway one day.
Margo Seibert: Between her amazing voice and activist work she’s the total Broadway package.
