Johnston, a frequent Celebrity Autobiography participant, is one of the founders of SLAM, which is aiming to establish a "sober high school" in New York City.

"Here’s the deal. There are over 35 Sober High Schools all across the U.S. The Boston area alone has FOUR. Yet the greatest & most dynamic city in the world, New York, has ZERO," Johnston said in a statement. "Statistics tell us that drug & alcohol abuse amongst NYC’s teens is reaching epidemic proportions, and getting worse every day. Please help SLAM provide our city's teenagers with a safe, sober learning environment. Besides, there’s nothing that warms my heart quite as much as people getting drunk and laughing their asses off, all so they can help kids stay sober. God, I love this city."
